When Goodwill of Greater Washington receives car donations, the cars are sent to Capital Auto Auction to be sold. After the vehicles are sold, Goodwill receives the proceeds from the sale to use for job training and employment programs. So, when a donor makes a car donation, we arrange to have the car towed directly to Capital Auto Auction. Once they arrive at the auction, they are thoroughly cleaned and inspected then scheduled to be sold in the next auction.
Capital Auto Auction is one of the biggest auto auctions in the Washington D.C. area and has been open since 1989. Since opening, they have sold thousands of donated vehicles in the Greater Washington D.C. area.
